Saturday 22nd October - Windsurf ** - River Orwell at Levington – sunny
periods.
Foil – 18.16 knot max, 16.63 knot ave., 2.69 knot hour, 8.79 knot mile,
20.53 km., 14.07 knot alpha.
Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Sailworks Retro
7.5m.
Wasn’t thinking of a sail today but it was sunny with a bit of a breeze
from the wsw so I thought I would check out Levington and agreed for Mag to
bike down with lunch at midday:) I arrived at the marina at 10.20, just
before high water and there was enough breeze to tempt me out on the foil
with 7.5. I was out for over two hours playing hunt the gust, I had a few
flying runs but it was a lot of floundering too. On the plus side I saw the
Harwich lifeboat head up river to Pin Mill for an exercise with an old
wooden barge, the Victor plus there was loads of yachts out and flocks of
waders whizzing about! I slowly beat upriver but the wind was very light so
returned and got a few flying runs across the corner with some OK gybes
before calling it a day and headed back landing before the mud started to
show with Mag already arrived, she had been reading in the van. I then used
her bike to go to the showers before returning for a yummy chicken
sandwich, we love our little van.
